Unfortunately, there are some developers who use common algorithms or faulty techniques and claim they are emulating a specific piece of analog equipment. (Or imply it by the look of the plugin.) I do some testing in order to verify that things are at least "in the ballpark", at least with equipment I am familiar with or have access to. It is helpful if others chime in on this as well!
